Check out Hook and Sons this Sunday and try some of their delicious raw dairy, grab a taster of their raw milk and you are likely to never buy from supermarkets again!  It’s a very different product to the pasteurised, homogenised milk you can buy in a shop. It is ultra fresh, as nature intended and direct from the farm……its taste will be pure.  It also has lots of added health benefits such as reducing children’s risk of suffering allergy-related conditions such as eczema and hay fever, it contains the beneficial bacteria for good gut health and fighting infection and it also contains casein which is a phosphoprotein and considered to be a protective factor in teeth health to prevent cavities.  So if you’re looking for a health kick to start off 2017……raw dairy is it!

I am Dumpling – Trader of the Year 2016!

Andrew from ‘I Am Dumplin’ won our sought after title of ‘Trader of The Year 2016’ after receiving an outstanding amount of well deserved votes from you guys. If you are one of the few that haven’t sampled his food, this weekend is the Sunday to do so.  He serves up a variety of delicious plump Gyoza dumplings, topped with toasted sesame seeds, a peppery rocket and coriander mix, crunchy onions and salty pork crackling.  You can then choose one of his delicious homemade sauces which he crates to suit all palettes, whether you prefer something hot and spicy, mild or just something with a little kick.

Here’s a little information written by Andrew about the inspiration behind ‘I Am Dumplin’ :-

Having cooked in professional kitchens for over 30 years and enjoyed a career throughout Asia, Africa and the Middle East as well as archiving Michelin accreditation along the way. My desire for flavor has been a life long quest and I now wish to share what I have learned.  So far I reckon that if you take simple food, add good technique and cooks who care….this brings the most happiness.

The best food is hard to find but so worth it! The Biryani man in Dhaka, immaculate chilli crab on Thong Lor in Bangkok, the lamb tagine in the Sinai and the babby gulang man in Ubud. All doing one thing very well…looking after you.

In an industry now where chain restaurants dominate, and having oodles of style and panache but poor risotto, very little care and a queue so they rush you out the door. I believe we are being sold a lemon. My life in kitchens has been blessed with diversity and travel, all the while driven by a desire to look after people and try to give comfort and luxury to others. The generosity of spirit has left the industry, which is something I lament.

Our ethos is simple; outstanding quality and reasonable prices………Fine Food, for a Fiver

We trade with reputable suppliers who are as local as possible and ask their help to find us the best available products. Our commitment to the local community we trade in and the greater environment is resolute and we genuinely enjoy cooking for people.

So what are you waiting for……..come along to your favourite Farmers Market and start the year as you mean to go on!
