Drink Directory

Treat Dad to a great bottle of wine that’s made in Sussex! The 2015 Bacchus has up front grapefruit and lime zest coupled with cut grass and gooseberry aromas. More delicate elderflower and tropical fruit (passion fruit, guava) notes open up on the palate.  You could transport your Dad back to his childhood as we feel this has a flavour similar to that of citrus Opal Fruits!  This wine is an ideal pairing with shellfish, seafood, sushi and fish and chips! Also lovely with goats cheese, other mild cheeses and salads……or simply enjoy it on its own.

Also available to put a smile on your Dad’s face is the fantastic locally made ‘Old Bakery Gin’ which has a light and refreshing flavour with a great little hit of juniper berries.  Pair this with Merchants Heart Tonic. A classic tonic water, medicinal to smell and initially sweet to taste, followed by a loud, proud quinine that latches onto the back of the tongue and imparts its bitter flavour.  A crisp citrus flavour appears towards the back, resulting in an altogether refreshing taste that works to support the loudest of gins. Drink Directory’s alternative mixer is Franklin and Sons Indian Tonic Water.  Award-winning tonic water inspired by the original tonic developed by the Franklins family. This all natural tonic is blended with Ecuadorian cinchona tree bark extract to deliver the well-known characteristic bitterness of quinine. The finest sugar is added to balance the flavour and then carbonated as high as possible to provide a punchy effervescence when poured into the glass.

Whilst shopping for Dad’s… don’t forget to show Mum (or yourself) a little love too! Check out Alamina Sparkling Pinot Grigio Rose, for all the Pinot Grigio lovers out there. Delicious and refreshing with delicate flavours of ripe summer fruits. A delightful summer fizz and a perfect all year round party popper!

Marsh Produce Limited

Make your Dad the perfect steak courtesy of Marsh Farm.  With a great variety of free range, 28 days matured cuts available you’ll find the perfect one to suit all palettes.

Try a super tasty Rib Eye steak on the BBQ.  Considered one of the tastiest and most elegantly flavoured of steaks, rib-eye steaks are cut from the main muscle attached to the spine – the meat most often used for superior roasting cuts, either rib roasts that still have the bone attached, or deboned rib-meat roasts. The special appeal of rib-eye steaks is that they have a rich marbling of fat throughout them, which gives guaranteed flavour and succulence.

Rump Steak
A tender cut of beef from the lower back of the cow, sold as roasting joints and steaks. It’s slightly less tender than sirloin but still only needs quick cooking. Rump steaks can be grilled or fried and are usually accompanied with sauces such as peppercorn or red wine sauce. Rump steaks are also good used in stir-fries and kebabs.

Sirloin Steak
Sirloin is one of the most flavoursome steaks, yet it’s almost as tender as fillet, so it can always be relied on to please everyone.

Pair any one of the above steaks with a great selection of accompaniments also available from Marsh Farm……pick up some ripe cherry tomatoes that are great roasted, some mushrooms, potatoes for chipping and a fresh selection of salad items to garnish.
